- Courses are organized in modules. A module consists of 3 or 4 courses spread across the Fall and Spring semesters, totalling 15 ECTS credits.
- Academic requirements are stated in terms of mandatory or optional modules. Once you take a module, you need to attend and pass all its constituent courses.
- First year modules are called CHOICE modules.
- If IMS is your major or if you plan to do a minor in IMS, you will need to take the IMS CHOICE module “Introduction to IMS.”
- You need to take two additional CHOICE modules from other programs. Although you are free to choose any CHOICE modules, for IMS major students, we strongly recommend:
- Second year modules are called CORE modules.
- If your major is IMS, you need to take all three IMS core-modules:
- If you are doing a minor in IMS, take the IMS core module of your choice (see our recommendations).
- In the third year,
- In the Fall semester, you will typically do an industry internship or participate in an exchange semester with one of our partner universities. This is the recommended option and is called the “World Track.” Alternatively, you could do a course-based “Campus Track.”
- You will attend advanced specialization courses in the Spring semester, and also do a Bachelors thesis (total 15 ECTS) under an IMS faculty of your choice.
- The Jacobs Track courses run in parallel, and you have to take 45 ECTS in all in this category. Each Jacobs Track course is worth 2.5 ECTS credits. For IMS students, the Jacobs Track courses are divided as follows:
